We all want More Energy, Don’t We?
Have you ever felt like you just don’t have enough energy to walk up your front steps, let alone head to the gym for an hour? If so, try these 2 steps to build up your energy now.
FIRST STEP: Fix any ‘Energy Zapper’ issues:
Zapper 1: Riding the blood sugar rollercoaster. Poor nutrition often leads to blood sugar spikes and then plummets, which quickly zap your energy levels. Improve your energy right away by improving your nutrition. Eat more veggies (6-12 servings daily), lean proteins, fibre and a balance of healthy fats and drink more water. Avoid processed foods as much as possible.
Zapper 2: Poor breathing. Breathing more deeply – belly breathing (letting the air reach deep into your belly, seeing your stomach noticeably rise and fall with each breath) vs shallow breathing (stopping your breath in your throat or ribcage) leads to more oxygen entering your system and replenishing your body tissues.
Zapper 3: Poor sleep If you aren’t getting more than 6 hours of quality sleep a night you’re dealing with higher levels of cortisol, a slower thyroid and cravings for processed, high calorie foods – energy zappers. Your immune system is weakened, leading to more illnesses which steal all of your body’s energy. Click here to read more about getting a better night’s sleep.
STEP 2: After solving the Energy Zappers, let’s increase energy with ‘Energy Drivers’.

Driver 1: Exercise. When you get active, adrenaline starts pumping. After you finish your workout endorphins take over; these hormones stimulate your brain’s pleasure and confidence centers.
Driver 2: Smell the roses. Slow down and take time to enjoy life. Give yourself some time each day to slow your thoughts down and relax mentally. A 5 minute mental break will rejuvenate you and increase your energy level.
Driver 3: Supplement. It’s important that you speak with your Dr before consuming supplements, however, research shows that some supplements can increase energy levels: 1) Omega-3s: Reduce inflammation and boost your mood. 2) B Vitamins: Help the body turn food into energy; help form red blood cells. 3) Probiotics: To assist with gut health, which many of us need.
So get rid of your ENERGY ZAPPERS and build up your ENERGY DRIVERS. Please reach out with any questions or comments you may have.
