Office Activity Will Help You Lose Weight Now!
You spend almost 50% of your day at work, so it’s important to be active while in the office. NEAT matters!
I spent 10 years in a corporate office environment, so I know what’s it’s like being stuck in meeting after meeting. I remember attending back-to-back conference calls and then having to respond to numerous emails before the end of the workday. All of these tasks involve a lot of sitting. Here are the ways that I made sure to be more active throughout my workdays in the office.
3 Strategies to Get You Moving More in Your Office
1. Schedule hourly movement.
Take a 3 minute break hourly to stretch at your desk, take a quick walk or perform an exercise or two at your desk like the Office Combat Kicks demonstrated below. If you have stairs in your office, even better, make it a point to walk up and down them once or twice during your break. Using this time to grab more water or to walk to the restroom furthest from your office is also a great strategy.
You’ll need a reminder to get up, or a couple of hours can easily slip by without you moving an inch. If you don’t have a fitness tracker to help with this, set the alarm in your phone to ding hourly, or put the reminders into your work calendar.
2. Welcome personal contact.
We live in a virtual world, so it’s easy to instant message your co-workers with a question you have. Resist this urge and try visiting your colleagues at their desks versus instant messaging, emailing or phoning them. Not only will you increase your daily steps substantially, you’ll also develop stronger relationships with your co-workers through face-to-face contact.
Embrace walking meetings. Instead of booking a meeting room with colleagues each time you need to discuss a project, trying walking around the building while you chat. This works particularly well when discussing creative concepts, as movement is proven to get the creative juices flowing!
3. Drink more water.
There are so many benefits to drinking more water. Not only will it keep you hydrated, energized, and feeling full, it will also increase the activity you complete at your office. Remember to fill your water bottle up at the furthest filling station, and use the restrooms furthest from your office. Drinking a constant supply of water kept me moving every hour on the hour in the office!

There are so many health benefits to drinking water daily.
To Sum it up…
Office activity is important. Moving hourly will help not only with weight loss, but also with joint pains and stiffness. You will begin to move more in the office when you schedule regular activity into your days, make face-to-face contact in your office building the norm, and drink more water.
