Cutting Calories is Possible With These Tips

You make hundreds of food decisions daily – what to eat, when to eat it, how much to eat and why.

Unfortunately, many of us don’t put a lot of real thought into these decisions, we often rely on external cues (time of day, if others around us are eating, Feb4 (3) when we’re given a lunch break) to guide our eating decisions versus listening to our internal cues. Internal cues, including when our stomach feels empty (it may even growl occasionally), when we feel satisfied and when we’re not enjoying our food anymore are important to listen to. Not listening to these cues can lead to mindless eating – you know, that eating in front of the TV or while you’re on the phone not really thinking about what you’re consuming. This type of eating is often when you’re ingesting the calorie filled, processed foods.

Build a Fit Physique teaches clients the following tips, to help them recognize real hunger and cut out mindless eating, which in return, enables them to start cutting calories.

Try one of these calorie cutting tips today:

1. Slow down! Take at least 20 minutes to eat a meal, that’s how long it takes for your body to recognize that it’s full.
2. Don’t eat with distractions. Stop eating in front of the TV or while you’re on the phone; always eat at the table.
3. Use smaller plates. Filling what’s considered to be a ‘smaller’ plate is still often considered to be more than a serving of food.
4. Don’t eat directly out of the package. Taking food out of its package will help you see how much you’re actually consuming.

Eating should be an enjoyable activity. Take time to really appreciate and experience how you’re feeling while eating. Reach out to Build a Fit Physique if you have any questions about how to cut calories now.
